The National Sustainability Committee
The university and university college sector aims at strengthening its work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030. As part of this effort, a national committee for sustainability in academia has been established.
The goal of the National Committee for Agenda 2030 in the higher education sector (SDG Norway) is to further develop the universities' role in the global debate on challenges raised by the agenda, both nationally and internationally.
The committee?s work:
- Exchange ideas and experiences from strategic work with Agenda 2030, as well as initiate collaborative projects between members of the committee.
- Provide input to strategies and research and education programs relevant to Agenda 2030 at the Research Council of Norway, the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (Diku), Horizon Europe, government departments, and more.
- Provide input in connection with Norway?s reporting to the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), with special emphasis on topics outside the government departments? scope of reporting. In addition, nominate a delegate to the annual HLPF delegation from Norway.
- Create meeting places and dialogue opportunities for researchers and students so that they can contribute to the debate on Agenda 2030. Input to the annual SDG Conference is an important element in this.
- The national committee decides the theme and date of the SDG Conference, and sets up a program committee.
