I am passionate about more inclusion and an open learning environment. I thought it was incredible to be allowed to study. Even though it's almost 13 years since I started university and almost 8 years since I took a master's degree, I still have the same sense of pride and privilege of having studies at a university. It's at the university that you mature and are allowed to explore thoughts and ideas, while questioning everything, including yourself. That's why I believe that activities at the university should be designed to provide the best possible experiences throughout the academic years. Everyone should have an equal opportunity for a good learning environment.
A good learning environment also involves pedagogical learning methods. Learning should be adapted to the times. Different generations have different needs and, in my view, there is a greater need for active learning with a practical approach, discussion, seminars and colloquiums.
Furthermore, I see great potential for more interprofessional collaboration at the university. There are already various projects where a handful of professions can get a few days or weeks to test their skills in practical tasks together. This is a fantastic opportunity and something the university should expand. I firmly believe that interprofessional collaboration will be much more relevant in the future, for example in mental health, care for the elderly and in sustainable research and sustainable development in our society. Nevertheless, it must be pointed out that this is only an opportunity for selected students. I want to work for more collaboration and more of such interprofessional work. This can also be made possible by opening for more common arenas at the university.
About me
I started working at the university in 2021 after a lot of frustration about the lack of communication and in-depth understanding within my profession, as a pharmacist. I was bothered by how much communication was lost either due to poor language skills or cultural misunderstandings. Coincidentally, an opportunity opened as a university lecturer for pharmacy students, and I did not hesitate.
I quickly realized that I fit into academia and wanted more of challenges. There was something missing in my teaching. I had already taken university pedagogy so that I could teach in the best possible way, but I wanted to teach based on research. I therefore took a chance on a temporary position at the Faculty of Medicine, where I had the opportunity to be a project manager, advisor and at the same time participate in research. Along the way, I also got to supervise both bachelor and master students.
When my position as an advisor came to an end, I applied for more permanent research. A PhD was perfect as it allowed me to focus on one of my favorite subjects - patient safety. In this position I also get the opportunity to teach, 25%, as well as participate in other more creative projects.
