Election platform
I want to be a representative of temporary scientific staff on the university board because I want to contribute to important issues for us being included in the decision-making processes. Like the other candidates and former representatives, I care about the need for security and predictability for temporary staff. In conversations with colleagues, it is especially issues related to completion time, compulsory work and further careers that concern us most and we feel a need for less uncertainty. As a representative, I will help to highlight this, and navigate this in the best possible way.
Furthermore, I am concerned that international employees and employees with a minority background are best taken care of and included in the work environment, both professionally and socially. For me this includes more accessibility at the university. This applies not only to offers of Norwegian courses, but also that the university operates multilingual.
About me
I started as a PhD candidates in Religious Studies at IKOS in August 2021. My research project is about Islam and digital media, more precisely how and why Muslim youth in Scandinavia use digital media to talk about and convey Islam and religion. In the spring of 2020, I completed my master's degree in Religious Studies at the University of Copenhagen, where I also worked as a research intern at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies for one semester. In June 2021, I completed a Post-Graduate Teaching Certificate at the Faculty for Educational Sciences and was an academic writing supervisor for students at the faculty with a first language other than Norwegian.
In addition to the PhD position, I will soon be the co-editor of Babylon (Nordic Journal of Middle Eastern Studies) and have been an editorial member of VOKS, a literary journal that works to promote minority voices and inclusion since 2018.
