1. Access online
To access your tax return online you need an electronic ID. The most common electronic ID is BankID. If you do not have the BankID, you can order the MinID which will enable you to log in at MyPage at the Tax Office (skatteetaten.no).
2. Check and correct
Follow the Tax Administation's guidelines on how to view, edit and submit your tax return (skatteetaten.no). Check that the pre-entered information is correct. Use the deduction wizard (skatteetaten.no) to see which deductions you may be entitled to claim.
3. Submit
The deadline to submit your tax return is 30 April. Tax returns that are not submitted by 30 April will be considered as having been submitted with the pre-completed information as stated when the deadline expired.
4. Tax assessment and appeal
When your tax assessment is ready, you will be notified by e-mail/sms. The notice will inform you whether you have to pay more tax or are entitled to a refund. More about tax assessment and ways to appeal (skatteetaten.no).
Advance assessment
If you fulfil certain requirements, you may request an advance assessment and pay tax upon termination of your work-related stay in Norway (skatteetaten.no).
