Short-term mobility for training
Short-term mobility is an exchange programme that lasts between 5-30 days. UiO has set an upper limit of 14 days with a scholarship.
Grant payments
PhD candidates travelling on short-term mobility receive 79 EUR per day from day 1 to 14. One travel day before and one travel day after the activity can also be covered. The scholarship is intended to cover some of the additional costs you incur when studying abroad, but does not finance your entire stay.
If you're travelling green, you can get an extra EUR 50 in grants.
Some qualify to receive a top-up grant of EUR 100 for short-term mobility lasting 5-14 days, and EUR 150 for short-term mobility lasting 15 to 30 days.
Equal opportunities – additional support
The Erasmus+ scholarship programme aims to provide equal opportunities for all Consequentially, some students may receive additional funding to facilitate their exchange. The eligible categories are:
- Students with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments
- Students with refugee status
- Students with children, or students who are the primary caregiver of younger siblings, elderly family members and/or family members with serious mental and/or physical illness or addiction
- First generation students whose parents or older siblings did not complete higher education
- Students who belong to the indigenous people of Norway, or one of the national minority groups (Forest Finns, Jews, Kven/Norwegian Finns, Roma, and Romani/Taters)

Recognition
To qualify for a grant, your stay must be approved by your faculty or department beforehand.
PhD candidates do not need to produce ECTS or have a digital component to their stay, in contrast to short term mobility grants for undergraduate and graduate students.

You do not receive support for participation in conferences.
How to apply
Employee mobility for teaching
You can travel abroad to teach through Erasmus+.
To do so, your department must have an Erasmus agreement with the university you will be teaching at. There are also other requirements for this type of stay.

Semester Mobility
Exchange programmes with a duration of 2-12 months. You must apply for a place at one of UiO's partner universities where a PhD exchange is included in the agreement. The exchange must be recognised as part of the degree, and you must be registered as a full-time student at the partner university.

Traineeships
A traineeship is a form of internship/work exchange programme with a duration of 2-12 months. It may, for example, involve supervised research at a research institute or in a lab at a partner university. The traineeship must be approved as part of the degree, and the internship must be full-time according to the organisation's working hours.
