Short term mobility Erasmus+

A short term mobility stay has a virtual and a physical part. You need to obtain at least 3 ECTS for participation, and the physical part needs to last between 5-30 days. You can get a grant for the physical part of the mobility, but UiO has set a limit for 14 days of grant.

What kind of grant can I get?

Students going on a short term mobility will receive 70 EUR each day for day 1-14. One travel day before and one after the activity can also be granted. The grant is meant to cover some of the extra costs related to studying abroad, but is not meant to finance the exchange period in full.

If you travel green, you can get 50 EUR for green travel.

Some students may qualify for a top-up for 100 EUR for short term mobility that lasts from 5 to 14 days, and 150 EUR for short term mobility that lasts from 15 to 30 days.

This might be a possibility for students that have:

  • functional impairment or chronical diseases
  • refugee status
  • children

Examples of stay

  • Summer courses with physical and virtual part. The virtual part can be before, during or after the physical stay.

  • Bleded intensive programmes (BIP) that is arranged by partner universities.

  • Activites in CircleU that meets the requirments for short term mobility.

  • Courses offered by partner insitutions that are shorter than a regular exchange semester.

Language Assesment

Most students have to complete a free online language assessment before the exchange period, through the system Online Linguistic Support (OLS). The test will determine your proficiency level in the language you will use during your semester abroad, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR). You can take a new test after the exchange period which allows you to measure the progress made during your stay abroad.

How does it work?

UiO will send you a login and a password by email to access the OLS assessment.

The host institution will not be able to access the results of the language assessment without your consent, and the results will not prevent you from taking part in Erasmus+.

If your result is B1 or lower, you will automatically receive an invitation to a free online language course in the OLS system. If your result is C2, the highest possible score, you will not be asked to complete a second assessment after the exchange period.

Sign the Grant Agreement

Before you can receive the grant, you have to sign and submit an Erasmus+ Grant Agreement.

UiO will send you the Grant Agreement when you have been registered by your department/Faculty and before departure.

Learning Agreement

The Learning Agreement states which courses you will take abroad. Read the procedure for recognition at your faculty. The courses for short term mobility does not need to be recognised as part of your degree.

Your faculty at UiO will send you the Learning Agreement by email prior to departure. The Learning Agreement must be signed by you, the agreement coordinator at UiO, and your host institution.

If you make changes in the course selection you must update the Learning Agreement and get the changes approved by UiO.

Confirmation from host institution

The host institution must sign a confirmation as soon as possible after your arrival in order to confirm the duration of the activity.

Send the signed form to utveksling@uio.no.
