Dean Ivar Prydz Gladhaug thanks Vice Dean of Innovation and Internationalisation, Hilde I. Nebb.
Hilde is both enthusiastic and extremely hard-working. This has enabled her to achieve significant results that the Faculty are both grateful for and proud of. I and the office of the Dean have really appreciated the working relationship we have had with her over the years. It is great to see Hilde move onto the position of Director of the Greenhouse, which she has played a key part in developing. Together with the rest of the office of the Dean, I would like to wish her the best of luck in her new position.
Hans Mossin becomes the new Director of MED
On 8 March 2022, the University Board decided to appoint Hans Mossin as the new Director of the Faculty of Medicine. This is a decision Dean Ivar P. Gladhaug is extremely pleased about.
“I have worked closely with Hans since 2012 and I am confident that he is a great choice for the Faculty, both now and in the coming years,” he says. MED News has had a chat with our new Faculty Director, who has already been the acting FD since 1 August 2021. Read the full article.
The ARK Survey:
Happy with response rate
The total response rate for the Faculty of Medicine ended up being 66% for the ARK Survey this spring. “We have every reason to be pleased with a response rate of 66%,” says HR Manager Stina Mosling, who believes the survey provides an excellent basis for continued efforts at the various units.

New Jebsen Centre on Cardiac Research
The new centre will be called the K.G. Jebsen Centre for Cardiac Markers. The research conducted at the centre will contribute increased knowledge about heart damage and heart failure. Professor Torbj?rn Omland will lead the centre, which will be based at Campus Ahus.
Pro-Dean of Research Jens Petter Berg congratulates Professor Torbj?rn Omland on the funding. “Omland and his colleagues have established themselves as world-leaders in research into cardiac markers and this funding will help further consolidate their position. We are grateful for the generous funding provided by the Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Foundation.” Read the full article.
Anders Dale wins International Research Award
We would like to congratulate visiting researcher Anders Dale on winning the Olav Thon Foundation’s International Research Award in Natural Sciences and Medicine.

Nominate your candidate for His Majesty the King's Gold Medal
You can now nominate candidates for His Majesty the King’s Gold Medal for Younger Researchers 2022. The internal nomination deadline is 25 March at 12:00. The nomination process will be coordinated by the Faculty. The medal is awarded to an outstanding younger researcher for scientific work assessed at the University of Oslo. 23 March SPARK Norway Educational Forum
- Four-day course for PhD students arranged by Norment, 28 March:
Genome-Wide Association Studies: Why, How and then What? The course includes both lectures and workshops covering basic aspects of Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and some tools for post-GWAS analysis. The course is primarily aimed at PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine (University of Oslo), who can obtain 3 credits upon successful completion of the course. Everybody interested in the topic is welcome. -
