On June 14th, we received a sad and unexpected message; our dear friend and colleague, Stein Fredriksen, passed away at the age of 68.

The traditional Easter race at IBV was held on March 12 at 12:00. Prizes were awarded to the teams that came in first, second, and third place. Congratulations!
The emeriti at the Department of Biosciences are a highly valued resource, and they have now got new premises in the Kristine Bonnevies House. The new offices are bright and pleasant, and all of the furniture is recycled.
During Christmas, there are short working days and limited capacity. At IBV, the expedition, IT and the purchasing office have closed all or partially during Christmas.
The University of Oslo have long worked to reduce the energy consumption. High energy prices and increased costs has made it necessary to introduce new measures, with the aim of further reducing the usage. This is how IBV is affected by the new measures.

Erika Hagelberg of the Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo has been awarded the Cheney Senior Fellowship from the University of Leeds. The fellowship is awarded to scientists who have a international impact on their field of study. The aim of this fellowship is to give leading scientists an oportunity to spend a period of time working on research at a leading UK institution, exploring new research ideas and building new collaborations.
