Application procedure

Applications for smaller amounts can be evaluated continuously. Applications for larger amounts as well as scholarships to be considered at the board meeting must be sent to us by the regular application deadlines: one in November (for the Fall semester) and one in May (for the Spring semester).

Who can apply?

Master scholarships

Master scholarship can be applied for by master students at UiO who write their thesis within the field of science studies (all disciplines). Master scholarships amount to NOK 25,000.

Qualification scholarships

Qualification scholarship can be applied for by anyone with a Master's or PhD degree from UiO who are planning on writing an article based on their thesis, or a project application in cooperation with research groups at UiO. We also open for applications for qualification scholarships to develop project applications from those without a master or PhD from UiO, if they have established an association with a research group at UiO.

When assessing applications for qualification scholarship to develop project applications the projects’ potential to contribute to science studies research and the development of science studies research groups at UiO will be emphasized. The colloquium does normally not award grants to tenured staff.

Qualification scholarships are limited upwards to NOK 50,000, and the application amount must be justified.
