UiO Program Kiosk - Install VMware

If you have an UiO-maintained computer you most likely have WMware preinstalled. If you can't find WMare with search on your computer, you can install it by yourself.

Install VMware Horizon on a UiO computer for use with UiO Program Kiosk

Windows

For UiO-maintained computers, open Software Center and install WMware Horizon Client.

After installing you can start by clicking Log on to UiO Program Kiosk at the main page, or start VMware Horizon Client from the Start menu, and ask it to connect to view.uio.no. See instructions for first-time use.

If you can't download WMware you can use the browser version of UiO Program Kiosk. Go to the browser version of UiO Program Kiosk. 

MacOSX

For UiO-maintained computers VMware Horizon Client has already been installed. Start the service by clicking Log on to UiO Program Kiosk at the main page. If you do not have the opportunity to download VMware you can use the browser version of UiO Program Kiosk. Go to the browser version of UiO Program Kiosk.

Linux

Download the Linux client here. We are waithing for an RPM (Red Hat Package Manager) for UiO-maintained computers. If you do not have the opportunity to download VMware you can use the browser version of UiO Program Kiosk. Go to the browser version of UiO Program Kiosk.

Non-UiO computers

Private computer (non-UiO)

1. Download VMware Horizon Client here.
2. Open the installation file you downloaded and follow the guide to install the program.
3. Start VMware Horizon Client. You can find it in the start menu on Windows and in Programs on Mac.
4. The first time you start VMware Horizon Client you must add UiO's server. 

• Click on Add Server. 
• Type view.uio.no in the popup window and click on Connect. 
• Log in with your UiO username and password. 
• If the program asks to add shortcuts for you, click No on Windows or Cancel on Mac. 
• You now have access to UiO Program Kiosk. It may take a short while to connect to UiO computers. Be patient!
