How to map shared drives

1.Start File Explorer(1) and click on This PC(2).

2. Right click in the empty space under Devices and drives and select Add a network location. 

3. Click on Next. You should see Choose a custom network location, click on it, then click on Next.

4. You will now be asked to type in your Internet or network address, here you add the address for your shared drive(ex. \\diskname\areaname ). Click on Next.

5. Give your desired name for the link to the shared drive. Click Next.

6. When that is done you may click on Finish to complete the setup. You should now see your home directory under This PC.

PS.

If you wish to access a shared drive without mapping it you can do so by going to File Explorer and proceed to type in the address in top hand bar as shown in the picture below (ex. \\kant.uio.no\areaname ).
