Join the survey and provide valuable feedback
All students and staff will be receiving a user survey via email in the coming days. The IT department hopes that as many people as possible will respond. The responses will be used to measure user satisfaction and whether the IT department is achieving its goals.
Happy with IT at UiO?
The IT user survey is conducted annually, and all results will be compared to the results of the survey conducted in November 2022. Petter Bj?rb?k, Assistant Director for IT User Contact and Service Center, is eager to get started. "The 2022 survey serves as a baseline, measuring user satisfaction before the reorganization. Now that the new organization has been in place for a year, it's time to see if we are achieving our goals. In order to provide students and staff with better IT services and support for research and education, we need to measure our progress," he explains.

A unified IT organization with one central contact point
"Most IT employees at UiO are part of the IT department. Previously, they were scattered across different units, and we hope that now that we are more consolidated, the IT services will be used and presented more cohesively. We also now have a central contact point for IT, namely IT Help. We still have IT staff present at the units, but we want most inquiries and questions regarding IT to come through IT Help. This way, we can quickly address any issues that can be resolved immediately and determine which ones require personal assistance or a visit from an IT staff member. Those working at the units will ensure that knowledge about individual needs, projects, and fields of expertise is carried forward and developed," says Petter Bj?rb?k.
All answers will be read and taken into account
The IT department is now eager to see if students and staff are more satisfied than before. "We have the results from the previous survey. Overall, the results show that UiO has been able to provide good IT user support to its employees and students. Those who have used the service appear to be satisfied, and the service seems to have a decent reputation among those who have not used it themselves," Bj?rb?k explains.
"We have been focusing our efforts on supporting research and education and being responsive to input and requests. We aim to support UiO's world-leading research and education efforts and adapt to the increasing digitalization and rapidly evolving pace of technology," Bj?rb?k continues. "Ultimately, it is the users of IT solutions who can determine whether we succeed or not, so based on this survey, we can evaluate the development of the IT services."
