Moving data between Google and G Suite

If you already have a Google account and you want to move the content to your Google Workplace account (or the other way around), follow these instructions.

Moving data from a Google account to Google Workplace

  1. Create a folder in your private Google account and move the documents you want to move to Google Workplace to this folder.
  2. Download the folder to your computer.
  3. Follow this guide to learn how to upload your data to Google Drive.

Move data from UiO's Google Workplace to a different Google account

When you quit UiO you no longer have access to your UiO Google Workplace account. Before your last day, make sure that all data in the Google Workplace account that you want to bring with you, is transfered to your private Google account. Follow this guide to learn how to transfer your data.

Changing the ownership of your files

When your role at UiO changes, or you are leaving, it may be necessary for others to access your files. Learn how to change ownership by following Google's guide here.

Moving big amounts of data

There is an upper limit of 15 GB of storage space per person in Google Drive, which makes Google Drive unsuited for big amounts of data.
