Activate two-factor authentication with SMS

It is also possible to set up an alternative authentication method with SMS for those who can not use the authentication app on the phone.

1. In a web browser go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup. Enter your Microsoft ID: username@uio.no in the field Log in and press Next.
2. On UiO's login page for Microsoft 365, enter your password. Then click Login.
3. You see the alert Need more information. Click Next.
   
   
4. On the Keep your account secure page, you will have to choose I want to set up a different method, and a small pop-up with a drop-down menu will appear.
   
   
5. From the drop-down menu, select Phone.
   
6. Select country Norway, enter your mobile phone number and select Send code in message before finally pressing Next.
   
   
7. Enter the code you receive on your phone to confirm the setup and press Next.
8. If the code was correct, press Done. Alternative confirmation method with SMS is now ready for use.
