Pasting copied text

If you want to copy text from a document and paste it into a Vortex document, it is important that you use one of the paste buttons in the toolbar.

This is to avoid transferring excess code from the document you are copying from, into the new document.

  1. Open the document which contains the text you want to copy and paste into your Vortex document. Select the text you need, and press Ctrl/Cmd+c on your keyboard to copy the text.
  2. Open the Vortex document you want the text to appear in.
  3. Place your text insertion point there you want the text, and click Paste as plain text or Paste from Word in the editing toolbar.

Click in the text box which opens, and press Ctrl/Cmd+v on your keyboard to paste the text. Click OK to insert the pasted text in the document.

IMPORTANT: If you copy and paste text from Word, you can use the Paste from Word button. This will help you keep the text formatting from the Word document (for example bold text, headings and links). If you copy and paste from another web page or a document from another text editor, or if the formatting from a Word document causes problems, you should use the Paste as plain text button. Using this button will remove all formatting from the text you paste, so you'll make links and other formatting again.

TIP: If you have problem formatting on your page (all text is bold or similar) you can't get rid of in any other way, you can save the text by using Paste as plain text in this procedure:

  1. Copy all text on the page.
  2. Click Source to open the document's source code.
  3. Delete all you see in the Source window
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Source again to go back to normal view.
  6. Click the Paste as plain text button, and follow the procedure for pasting text above.

The text is now on the page, but you'll need to redo all formatting.
