This honours certificate offers you a unique opportunity to develop interdisciplinary competence in sustainable healthcare and understand and manage health changes caused by climate changes.
Obtain key competencies in sustainability and the challenges of ensuring sustainable healthcare
The honours certificate will focus on, among other topics:
- the impact of climate change on human and environmental health.
- the relation between human, animal, and environmental health.
- how the term 'sustainable healthcare' should be understood in an environmental, social and economic setting.
- and developing pedagogical and analytical skills to understand these issues while also developing skills to explain these issues to others.
You will learn about key competencies for sustainability and connect these to challenges to sustainable healthcare. Finally, you will learn how to communicate these competencies.

You will engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration
Through collaborative lectures with leading research environments, seminars which focuses on experimental methods and pedagogy and through case based group work, you will learn to better understand and address challenges to health posed by climate change, and issues of sustainability.
This honours certificate focuses strongly on student participation, preferably in groups of students from different scientific domains, and with seminars where the teacher's role will be to stimulate systems thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration when feasible.
For students at profession- or master level
The certificate is aimed at students with a strong personal interest in learning more about the intersection between climate, health and sustainability, as well as the pedagogical tools which can be used to developing creative responses to this.
The healthcare sector emits large amounts of greenhouse gases (GHG), and sustainability must be implemented in healthcare institutions as well as in all other sectors of the society. This implies that we must learn to consider the future and the global consequences of our decisions and learn how to transfer that knowledge to others.
It runs simultaneously with your main master's programme
The certificate runs simultaneously with your master's programme and consists of two modules - one module of mandatory interdisciplinary courses (15 ECTS) and one module with an elective course (5 ECTS).
Hybrid
teachingAll courses have hybrid teaching. Classes are mainly held between 16.15 to 18.00 in the afternoon.
