Grading
After grading, the answer papers and scores are analysed using a statistical method known as psychometrics. This analysis is then used as a basis to assess whether the examination tested what it was supposed to test, such as learning outcomes (validity) and whether the results are reliable (reliability). The analysis also provides information about the quality of the exam questions. The Examination Committee will review the psychometric analysis at its grading meeting. Questions that, for various reasons, are found to be of poor quality and any questions with errors are removed before the final grades are given.
The Examination Committee will also publish information on its review of the grading on the basis of the psychometric analysis. This will include any questions removed and why. This information will be published as an examination resource in “Mine studier” at the same time as the grades are published in “Studentweb”, and will be available to the students that took the exam.
Feedback on your answers
Information regarding feedback on written exams will be published in Mine studier after grading.
Reuse of past questions
After each ordinary examination, 20 % of the questions are published as training material for the students. See publication of digital examination question papers (in Norwegian).
Exemptions from publication
To improve the quality of examinations, a database of exam questions is being created. This will enable good questions to be reused, while poorer questions can be replaced. In order to build up the exam database, only 20% of the questions from an exam are published as practice material for students. See “tidligere eksamensoppgaver”
Exemption from public disclosure
Exemption of examination papers from public disclosure may be given by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice, based on an interpretation of the relevant legislation The ministries have pointed out that legal access to answers must nevertheless be ensured, for example via controlled access.
Access to your answer papers
Students who wish to review their answers and the model answers may come to the Faculty to do so, subject to certain rules. After each exam, information on the time and place of access will be published, together with a link to an online form to sign up for access in “Mine studier”.
When you have access to your papers, you will be able to see which questions you have answered correctly or incorrectly, compared to the model answers. The main reason for providing access is to allow you to decide if it is worth complaining about your grade or any formal errors in the question paper. Comparing your answer with the model answer is also a learning process. Copying or photographing the material is not permitted.
