Vertical distribution of protists (including microalgae)

How do the vertical distribution of protists (including microalgae) vary with environmental parameters such as light, temperature, salinity and oxygen content in the permanently stratified fjord Framvaren (southern Norway).

Methods: light and electron microscopy, cell counts in inverted microscope.

PROTIST BIODIVERSITY AND TAXONOMY – WENCHE EIKREM

My research interests are in the biodiversity and biogeography of microalgae and protists of plankton and sandy shore environments, and I have paid special attention to the nano- and picofraction and to toxic algae. I use light and electron microscopy to reveal the morphology and micro-anatomy of the organisms in order to identify known species and to describe species new to science.
