During his time studying economics, Martin developed analytical skills and the ability to look at issues from different angles. He learned how to identify causal relationships and assess their consequences in a wider context. This solid foundation has been invaluable for his first job after graduation.

What does your job entail?

Ramb?ll is an international consulting firm with about 17,000 employees globally, focusing on sustainable solutions within infrastructure, transport, environment, and energy. I work in the "Smart Mobility" department, which places me in the transport sector. My job is to analyze the economic and societal impacts of various infrastructure projects, as well as the traffic impacts of smaller developments. This involves conducting different types of analyses related to large transport projects, but also assessing how traffic will develop over time and distribute on the road network for both small and large projects.

What's the most exciting part of your job?

The most exciting part is finding new ways to solve challenges that arise during projects. Additionally, it's very exciting to have the opportunity to work on many different types of projects.

How do you apply your education in your job?

My education in economics has provided a strong foundation and developed my analytical skills. It has enabled me to take a broad approach to issues, identify causal relationships, and assess consequences in a wider context. This is valuable in my job, where I often need to balance detailed analyses with an overarching view of the whole picture.

What is a typical day at work like?

As a consultant, my workdays are varied. Some days are filled with meetings, while others are more independent, where I work in Excel, perform intersection capacity calculations, or program in Python. Additionally, some days are dedicated to writing reports and communicating analyses.

How did you get the job?

I started looking for a job during my final year of studies and applied to various positions. Suddenly, I saw a job advertisement from Ramb?ll, and it seemed like a very exciting place to work. There was an initial interview to get acquainted, followed by a case assignment which I had to present in a second interview. Fortunately, Ramb?ll was convinced, and I was offered the job.

What's your best tip for other students who want a job like yours?

My best advice is to acquire basic programming skills and become comfortable working with Excel. This is very helpful when conducting various analyses. Additionally, the most important thing is to have fun while studying, as it makes everything much easier.
