Submission deadline
You can submit your thesis at any time, but you are only guaranteed examination in the same semester if you hand it in before the following deadlines:
- 15 May (spring semester)
- 15 November (autumn semester)
To-do list when submitting your thesis
- 1: Electronically submit your Master's thesis in DUO (StudentWeb)
(in the pull-down menu showing faculties, choose ”Other units” and then ”Centre for Gender Research”. Remember to print the forms you receive from the electronic registration in DUO!) - Submit your entire full-length thesis
- submit two thesis abstracts, one in Norwegian and one in English
- remember printing two forms from DUO: the receipt of thesis submission and
- Submit your thesis for printing.

Which expenses does STK cover?
- STK covers the cost of printing 10 copies of your thesis. You may keep 5 copies for yourself.
- STK pays for colour printing of the 5 copies to be kept by the Centre.
- If you want colour printing for your own copies, you have to cover the cost yourself (to be paid at pick-up).
In addition to your thesis, please submit the following information to the University Print Centre
- Do you have pages to be printed in colour? How many and which ones?
- Do you want colour prints in your own 5 copies too? If so, specify the number of copies to be printed with colour.
- Do you want more than 5 copies for yourself? If so, specify the total number of copies to be printed.

After printing
- After 4 working days: contact The University Print Centre to enquire if your prints are ready to collect.
- Collect your prints at The University Print Centre and submit 5 copies of your printed thesis to STK.
- The student keeps 5 copies of her/his thesis.
- STK keeps 5 copies.
- If you need more than 5 copies of your thesis, additional printing is at your own cost.
- Send an e-mail to post(a)stk.uio.no to inform us that your thesis has been sent to be printed.
3: Diploma issuance form
When you submit your thesis, you must also submit a diploma form to the Faculty of Humanities. The form is meant to inform the Faculty about which courses are part of your degree.

What happens if I don't submit within the deadline?
- You will not be guaranteed an oral examination within the same semester.
- The only exception to this rule is if you present a doctor’s note.
PLEASE NOTE! There are some special rules and regulations in regards to visa or funding issues etc. for international students who do not submit within the deadline. International students who are delayed in their master's programme, please consult the International Student Reception.
