Programme structure
In the programme option Hydrology and glaciology, you will take mandatory and recommended courses the first semesters. The courses are a total of 60 ECTS credits. You start with the Master's thesis in the second or third semester, depending on your selection of courses.

- GEO4171 – Floods, Avalanches and Landslides
- GEO4340 – Fluvial Hydrology
- GEO4420 – Glaciology
- GEO5440 – Cryospheric Modelling (5 ECTS credits) / GEO5441 - Cryospheric modelling/with project
Recommended courses
Course selection is done in consultation with the supervisor or coordinator for the programme option. Courses can be choosen from the list of mandatory courses, or from the following:

- GEO4410 – Glacial and Periglacial Geomorphology
- GEO4515 – Remote Sensing of the Earth surface (overlap with GEO3515 and GEG2240) / GEO4520 – Advanced Remote Sensing and Topographic Analysis
- FYS-STK4155 – Applied Data Analysis and Machine Learning
- IN4200 – High-Performance Computing and Numerical Projects
- MAT4110 – Introduction to Numerical Analysis
