Programme structure

The master’s programme in Ibsen Studies Online is a two-year digital programme that consists of a total of 120 ECTS

Course of study

4. semester IBSO4390 – Master's thesis in Ibsen studies or IBSO4395 – Master’s Thesis in Ibsen Studies
3. semester IBSO4390 – Master's thesis in Ibsen studies or ILN4950 – Research project semester for Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies or ILN4900 – Project Semester for Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies or 30 credits outgoing exchange
2. semester IBSO4001 – Theory and methods for Ibsen studies IBSO4200 – Digital approaches to Ibsen Studies IBSO4250 – Ibsen on Screen
1. semester IBSO4000 – Advanced academic writing for Ibsen studies IBSO4101 – Ibsen’s works: History, text, reception IBSO4204 – Ibsen in performance

In the first year, you will complete 60 credits. These credits consist of:

  • 60 credits from compulsory courses.

During the second year, you can choose between the following options for your master’s thesis:

  1. Write a 60-credit master’s thesis in your third and fourth semesters.
  2. Complete a 30-credit project term or a 30-credit outgoing exchange in your third semester, and then write a 30-credit master’s thesis in your fourth semester.

Diploma and degree

This programme leads to the following degree: Master of Philosophy in Ibsen Studies.
