Holiday greeting and information about the upcoming spring semester

Dear bachelor and master students at the Faculty of Medicine,

The end of this semester was not quite as we had hoped, but we are happy that we were able to complete most of the teaching and exams.

DIGITAL TEACHING IN JANUARY

Unfortunately, the infection is on the rise, and there is a danger that the infection pressure will still be high at the beginning of the semester in January. The Faculty management has therefore decided that teaching will be digital until 30 January 2022.

Specific information is provided on the individual course page.

EXAM

Exams before Easter will be held as home exams or as oral exams on Zoom. All oral examination after submitted master thesis will be carried out on Zoom and postpones examinations will be arranged as home examinations during this period.

We are working on a plan for how to conduct the exams that will be held later in the semester. More information will be given in due course.

Assessment form will vary between programmes and courses. Specific information will be provided on the individual course page.

The University is still open. This means that reading rooms are open to students, but the number of places is reduced and you must reserve a place. Remember to follow infection control routines.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Students who plan to rent housing are asked to contact SiO if entry is delayed. This can be done at https://www.sio.no/en/shortcuts/contact/contact-form

NEW ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION MEDIO JANUARY

In mid-January, we will return with more information about how the teaching will be carried out from 31.1. There might still be a need for restrictions, but we hope that the study situation will normalize throughout the spring semester.

I would like to once again express my gratitude to you all for your efforts through another semester with pandemic restrictions, and I wish you all happy holidays!

Best regards
Eivind Engebretsen
Vice-Dean for postdoctor and master programmes
