Application process for Bachelor's and Master's courses
When to apply
- The application portal S?knadsweb is open now.
- The application portal is open until March 1 for self-financed applicants.
- For scholarship applicants the application portal is open until February 1.
1. Academic requirements
Academic requirements are different for Master's, Bachelor's and Norwegian language courses.

2. Choose courses
- Norwegian language course (choose either Elementary, Intermediate or Advanced level)
- All Bachelor's and Master's courses will be offered as in-person courses in 2025
3. Gather documents
- Gather all the required documents, and upload them in the application portal within the application period.
- Submit all documents before the application deadline; late submissions will not be considered.
- Upload all documents to the portal unless specifically instructed to send them directly from the issuing institution.
- You can log into the portal multiple times to upload documents before the deadline.

4. Apply online
The application portal is currently open.
Register your application in the University of Oslo's online application system S?knadsweb.
- Enter your full legal name as it appears in your passport; include both first and middle names.
- Use a single email address to avoid creating duplicate user IDs or applications.
- After you have selected course in the application portal, please choose one of the following options: "I will arrange my own private accommodation" or "I choose to use and pay for ISS accommodation".
- Please note that there is no final "submit button" in the application portal.
- You can log in multiple times to complete your application and upload documents by the given deadline.

Please note! Your application will be considered invalid if you have not submitted all supporting documents by the deadline. Invalid applications will not be processed.
Admission process for Bachelor's courses:
All applicants who meet the admission requirements by the given deadline will receive an offer.
Admission process for Master's courses:
An admissions committee will further evaluate all applicants who meet the formal admission requirements. The admissions committee aims to select a diverse student group with a widespread geographical distribution and gender balance.
The committee selects students based on the following criteria: statement of purpose, letter of recommendation, and professional experience.
6. Scholarships
The application portal S?knadsweb is open for scholarship applications from January 2 until February 1. See general conditions for scholarships.
7. Get your application result
We will begin sending out admission letters by email in late March.
The payment information will be sent in your admission letter.
