Application procedure for international students

Find the academic requirements, documentation requirements, and other information about the application process for ISS summer courses here.

Application procedure for UiO students:

  • All Bachelor's and Master's program students at the University of Oslo (UiO) have an easier application process to summer courses at ISS, since they are already registered as students at UiO.
  • Single course students, exchange students, and PhD students must apply as any other applicants. See the general application procedure for visiting students and university students from home universities other than UiO.
  • UiO program students can apply for loans/ grants from L?nekassen, under the terms and conditions as any other semester.
  • Applicants to Master's courses must have completed a Bachelor's degree at the time of applying.
  • Only UiO students enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program can apply for a summer course without extra cost. UiO program students do not have to pay a course fee since they have already paid the semester fee ("semesteravgift") for the spring semester. Current UiO program students can apply for all the summer courses except the 6-week Norwegian language courses (NORAIN).

Terms and conditions

  • The general terms and conditions for ISS also apply to current UiO program students.
  • If you intend to use the summer course as a part of your degree, you are responsible for ensuring that the course will be accepted as part of your degree program and that the course does not overlap with any other courses in your degree. Contact your institute/faculty to find out more about this.
