One of the reasons for the early activities related to the latter is that the Norwegian Research Council recently changed their deadline for submitting applications to February 10, 2021, much earlier than in previous years. This has meant that we, in turn, have had to move back the preparatory application process and its different phases, which are now in full swing. It is gratifying and exciting to see in action the eminently diverse expertise that TF is known for; the creativeness and the sense of teamwork as projects move from basic ideas to full projects ready to take off. To be involved in different ways in this process is one of the perks of being Dean of Research at this faculty.
TF is also on route to expand our research capacity with the hiring of new research fellows. These hires are part of two new projects: Hugo Lundhaug’s Apocrypha project and Marius Timman Mjaaland’s UiO:Norden project, The Ambivalence of Nordic Nature: Gift. Guilt. Grace. We expect to be welcoming new colleagues in these fields in February.
Teaching is at the very centre of what we do and excel in
But it is not only research that engages the TF community; teaching is also at the very centre of what we do and excel in. As announced earlier at one of our Waffle Lunches, we are very happy and proud that Birgitte Lerheim has been selected by the university as one of seven meritert underviser. This shows that, when the university highlights the importance of teaching excellence and innovation, TF is well placed on the map. Congratulations Birgitte!
That TF effectively educates important players in Norwegian society and the church is no secret. Our students are essential critical voices in debates, both locally and nationally. Most recently, to give just two examples, NRK P3 wrote about Christine Josephine Andreassen’s life journey and her choice to become a minister in the Church of Norway. Frida Str?yer Aalborg, Eva Stien and Anne Guro Nesteby Grette voiced their concerns in the erupting debate about women ministers in V?rt Land. It is encouraging to see how TF continues to make an impact in church and society through our students in these and many other ways.
Nina Hoel returns to her role as Dean of Studies
Last but not least, we are very happy to say a warm welcome back to Nina Hoel, as she returns to her role as Dean of Studies after her parental leave. She and Birgitte, who filled in for Nina, have been overlapping this month in the leadership group. A heartfelt thank-you to Brigitte for her service this past semester.
Do keep an eye on any and all updates from the city and the university about Covid19, as cases are again on the rise. And don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have questions or concerns.
Take care and stay safe!
