It is important for us to inspire students to use available platforms and tools, such as Canvas. The modular structure of the course enhances accessibility and allows students to select the modules according to their needs. We aim to support students in their learning journey and as a result increase their digital literacy.
Marianne Kufaas S?terhaug and Henrik Tj?nn, two master's students in pedagogy at UiO, lead to the development of the course, as part of their internship at LINK in fall of 2022. They used their experience and insights to create a course that simplifies the usage of the Canvas platform for students.
— ?Similar to other online courses we create, there are several principles that we pursue. One of the most important is to embody the user's perspective. For LINK, having students on board to design the course was valuable because they understand the target audience, as well as they integrate their own experiences as students into the content, said Helene Aalborg Christiansen, who supported the interns during the course development process.
— ?In addition, Marianne and Henrik have the technical and pedagogical background from their study programme in order to think through the best way to communicate the content to UiO students, Helene added.
Marianne and Henrik worked closely with LINK's pedagogical team. The Canvas course for students has been expanded, completed, and translated to English by Helene Aalborg Christiansen and Mirjana Coh at LINK.
We have an ambition at UiO to create compelling and relevant courses that can help students optimise their digital experiences while studying, and hopefully also beyond when they enter their career path.
