The European University Association (EUA) is inviting applications for the 2025 round of Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups (TPGs). These groups are designed to foster peer learning and exchange of practices among European universities, enhancing the quality of learning and teaching.
The focus for 2025 is on staff development and transnational collaboration in teaching, in the context of the Bologna Process and ongoing educational discussions in Europe.
The application deadline is January, 17th 2025.
Main Objectives
- To explore and enhance practices in organizing and implementing teaching and staff development in universities.
- To identify key considerations and lessons that contribute to the improvement of learning and teaching.
Themes and Expected Outcomes
The 2025 TPGs will delve into three key themes related to staff development:
- Enhancing Teacher Engagement and Expanding Opportunities. Exploring ways to motivate staff and increase participation in teaching development, fostering a sense of community in teaching practices.
- Staff Development and Transnational Collaboration. Focusing on collaborative efforts in education across institutions, especially within European University alliances, to share best practices and develop joint strategies.
- Ensuring Quality and Impact of Staff Development. Understanding and evaluating the effects of staff development on teaching quality and proposing indicators for assessing their impact on student learning.
Each group will reflect on challenges, good practices, and policy recommendations related to staff development.
Activities and Timeline
Approximately 8-10 universities will participate in each TPG. Members will attend three meetings between March and November 2025, with at least one being in-person. Groups will produce reports summarizing their conclusions, to be presented at the European Learning & Teaching Forum in February 2026.
Participation
- Open to EUA member universities, which includes UiO.
- Candidates should be senior representatives responsible for learning and teaching.
- Each university can apply for one TPG, with up to two representatives participating.
- Selection is based on motivation, prior experience, geographical diversity, and student representative engagement.
Terms and Conditions
Participation is self-funded, covering travel and accommodation for meetings. No participation fee is required, but meals during meetings will be covered by EUA.
