The reading course offers students an opportunity to explore a key issue in modern international and transnational history in further depth. Students are introduced to a range of secondary literature on a particular topic. Reading research and discussing it in class, students look closely at how historians develop different and often conflicting interpretations of a topic through approaching it with different theories, methods and primary sources. Students are led to see how historians engage with each other’s arguments and advance new questions.
