Teaching
The teaching will be given as lectures and seminars.
Lectures
- 20 lectures. Two lectures each week.
- We offer lectures in both Norwegian and English.
- Find the time and place for the lectures here.
The lectures cover the syllabus and will prepare you for the final written exam. It is recommended to follow the lectures throughout the semester.
The lectures are open for everyone. We will publish recordings of the lectures in Canvas. If you cannot attend the lectures, we recommend that you use the recordings.
Seminars
- 7 seminars. The seminars take place every other week.
- You are expected to be prepared and actively participate.
- It is obligatory to attend a minimum of four out of the first six seminars. The attendance requirement is absolute. Valid absences will not be granted under any circumstances. Read more about obligatory activities here.
The seminar teaching focuses on strengthening your skills in identifying viewpoints, arguments, and structures in an academic text. You will also receive guidance in academic writing related to your obligatory assignments.
How do I sign up for the seminar option?
You register for a seminar group in Studentweb. The seminar groups takes place at different times.
- You must make sure that you choose a seminar group that does not conflict with your other courses. Please check the schedule for the various seminar groups on the semester page.
- Groups marked "English group" are thought in English.
- If necessary, you can change seminar groups within a given deadline. More information about changing seminar group can be found here.
The seminar variant has limited capacity and we will prioritise students who are admitted to a study programme at UiO.
Students in certain study programmes will be automatically registered for seminar groups. You will receive information if this applies to you.
