FIL2206 – Thought, interpretation and communication
Course description
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
Course content
Is a conversation a certain type of interaction between the participants? If so, what kind? Are the interpretation of the meaning of utterances and the taking of a position on the validity of the interpreted meaning two separate processes, or two inseparable sides of the same thing? Is rationality something that is ‘built into’ conversation, or something that is determined by characteristics of the participants?
Learning outcome
The course aims mainly to give you a theoretical understanding of utterance interpretation, dialogue and communication, but is also open to ethical and political reflections.
