ENG4470 – Literary Theory
Course description
Course content
The courses under this heading (ENG4471-ENG4479), while focussing on literary works from one or several genres will focus on or more specific literary theories in their approach to literary texts. The courses aim to develop analytical abilities both in literary interpretation and in work with theoretical texts. Texts are chosen from works that invite and richly repay academic study.

Learning outcome
To acquire extensive knowledge about the theories studied. To develop the ability to analyse literary texts within a theoretical framework.
Admission

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Admission to the master program in literature, LAP or other suitable master programs.
Teaching
Seminar, two hours per week for ten weeks. Regular attendance and active participation is required, e.g. in the form of one or more oral presentations.
Examination
A term paper of 10 standard pages (topic to be decided between teacher and student).

English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
Marks will be published on Studentweb no later than three weeks after the submission date/exam.
