Welcome to MUS4217 - the method course.

This course gives a basic introduction to qualitative research method related to music research¡ªand on music as a part of culture and society. It considers methodological questions related to music and identity, popular music studies, music pedagogy, ethnographic work, interviews etc.

It is a pleasure to let you know that some of our most experienced staff will lecture in this course, including prof. em. Even Ruud, music sociologist Kyle Devine, media scholar Yngvar Kjus & others.

There may still be some updates on the course schedule, however, the Canvas page with literature etc. is now open.
