Dear Students,
The theme for the seventh lecture in the methodology course—on Friday (12.02)—is ‘Qualitative method’. Departing from Landman’s rather scant references (2006: 71-74) and my own research experiences I will look into issues like (participant) observation; open, closed and semi-structured interviews, focus group interviews, reliability and relevance of data obtained in these ways, and generally, how ‘in qualitative studies the ongoing process of questioning is an integral part of understanding the unfolding lives and perspectives of others’—but with a purpose.
Questions and discussions are welcome; if you like you may also prepare questions beforehand so that we can start with the concerns these questions raise.
Stener
