The curriculum in this course is the material covered in Oystein Elgaroy's lecture notes, except for the following (sub)sections: 1.10.7, 1.12, 2.5, 2.6, 3.4.3 in the first three chapters.

For chapter 4, the following parts of the chapter where covered: 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.5. In 4.4 a qualitative understanding of the content is expected, but the details of the derivation has not been covered and is hence not on the curriculum. The same is true of sections 4.6 and 4.7 Section 4.8 was covered up to equation 4.92. In addition you are expected to know whether a cold spot is an overdensity or underdensity on large scales, to think qualitatively about how the cl¡¯s woud change if one changed the universe geometry, contents etc.

Problems solved in the lectures and exercise sessions are also part of the curriculum

Tomorrow (Wednesday the 4th of June) will be the last exercise session in this semester's version of the course. The probability of cake for those of you who chose to attend is nonzero.

All mandatory assignements that have been handed in are now approved. For those of you who delivered on paper, you can collect your assignements in class tomorrow (Wednesday the 4th of June) or find them in the box by the postal shelves at ITA after that time.

This Wednesday (28th of May) and the next (4th of June) we are looking at previous exam sets.

Remember that the last mandatory assignement is due on Wednesday (28th of May) too.

There will be no lectures on Mondays: 26th May, 2nd June and 9th June.

You can now find Licia's lecture notes on structure formation from the menu on the middle of this page.
 

Next Wenesday (7th of May) we will do the exercise set called week 14 as a preparation for Licia's lectures on structure formation. To get the full benefit of this preparatory class I recommend that you also have a quick first read through of chapter 4 in the lecture notes.

As Licia will be teaching for the to following weeks, the final mandatory assignement will not be due untill the 28th of May.

In next Wenesday's (April 30th) exercise class we will be working on the following problems from previous exams:

Problems 1 and 2 from the exam given in December 2006

The entire exam from January 2007

Problems 1 and 3 from the exam given in December 2007.

Problems 1 and 2 from the exam given in December 2009.

Don't forget that the third mandatory assignement, details on which you can find in the problem set marked week 13, is due on the 30th of April.

All the handed in attempts at the second mandatory assignement have been approved. If you handed in your copy on paper you can collect it in today's class or find it in a box by the postal shelfs on the ground floor at ITA at your leisure.

Professor Licia Verde will be teaching chapter 4 on:

Mondays: 12th and 19th May

Wednesdays: 14th and 21st May.

There are no lectures on the 28th April and on the 5th of May.

The Wednesday after easter (23rd of April) we will do the exercise set marked week 13.

The mandatory hand-in part of this exercise is due the week after on the 30th of April.

Next Wednesday (April 9th), we are doing the exercise set called week 12.

Don't forget that the 9th of April is also the due date for the second mandatory hand-in assignement, details on which you can find in the exercise set called week 11.

Midterm exam results are now ready. Your grade is available in the StudentWeb.

This Wednesday (2nd of April) we are doing the exercise set marked week 11. The set also contains the next mandatory assignement which is not due this week, but next week (April 9th).

This week (24th of March to 28th of March) there will be no lecture or exercise sessions due to midterm exams.

This Wednesday (March 19th) we are going through the midterm exam from 2013.

The first mandatory assignment has now been corrected and everyone who submitted a solution has passed. If you handed in a paper copy you can collect it (with comments on your work) in tomorrow's (12th of March) exercise session, or later in a box by the postal shelf.

This Wednesday (12th of March) we will do the exercise set called Week 10.

The exercise set for this tomorrow (Wednesday 5th of March) should be the set called Week 9, not Week 8.

The curriculum for the midterm exam is all of chapter 1 except paragraph 1.10.7.

Paragraph 1.10.7 is in fact not on the curriculum at all.
