There will be a final workshop tomorrow, friday the 3rd, so one more chance to come and get help with your code or report.
The feedback for project 2 is now available on devilry.
We will go through the project description for project 3 in the morning class on thursday. The description can be found here. Read through it so you can ask any questions you might have in the class.
We have decided that the deadline for exc 3 will be moved to friday June 3. This is due to many of you having an examn at the beginning of that week. Moving the dealine to friday also means it is possible to have a workshop on thursday, June 2 as an extra service to you. Exercise 3 will be handed out in sometime in week 19.
The deadline for Exc 2 has been postponed till thursday the april 28th at 23.59. This is in recognition of the very unfortunate impact of a late easter, and collissions with AST3220. The exercise class on thursday the 28th will also be converted into a workshop, so if you last minute questions or trouble you will have chance to ask questions and get help then.
There was an error in the project 2 description regarding which exercises to solve, but a new version has been uploaded with the correction. The correct exercises are 5.10-5.12.
The description for project 2 is now available here. We will go through it in the afternoon session on friday and there should also be time to work on it after. Please take a look at it already now, so you can ask about anything unclear on friday.
The grading and feedback for project 1 should now be available on devilry.
Both are now confirmed to be April 24th and May 29th respectively
The institute for theoretical astrophysics(ITA) and Rosseland Centre for Astrophysics(RoCS) have the last few years offered summer projects for students, stretching over typically 6 weeks during the summer holiday. ITA has decided not to fund summer students anymore, but RoCS will still be able to offer summer jobs. We expect there will be more interested students than there will be summer jobs, but we would like to know if this is a correct assumption.
IF you are interested in a 4-6 week summer job at RoCS, then please email @boris to show your interest no later than weds April 4th. The exact period for the summer job and exact project can often be decided on by the project supervisor. Showing your interest is not binding.
The lecture todary will be a on the first obligatory term project. Please read through this material before the lecture if you can, so you can ask any questions during the lecture.
Just be aware that the Lecture today and for the future is in SR 209
We are so sorry but the whole team has been hit by corona this week. That unfortunately means that no-one will be available for the seminars tomorrow or the lectures friday. We unfortunately have to cancel both of them. The subjects that were supposed to be covered friday, will be covered in a recording of last years lecture on the same subjects. Links to recordings of the lecture will be available through the course lecture plan later in the week. We are so sorry for this
The lecture tomorrow (Friday 28/01) will be conducted in auditorium 209 in Svein Rosselands building. That is in "2. etasje" in Norwegian = "first floor" in English, on top of the stairs just inside the entrance. See you there!
Vetle found an intro to the forum given in the ifi part of the forum, but anyways.
The physics department have moved the classes in FYS3120 thursday morning which collided with ours. That means that the schedule for AST3310 stays as it is.
Be aware that you will not see a zoom-link unless you are lkogged in to the uio web-pages.
The first lecture in AST3310 this year will be on friday, Jan. 21. It is an introductory lecture but this time it will need to be on zoom - something that we will very much try to avoid in the future. A link will show up in the teaching plan before friday. I expect everyone to show up, with cameras on. You all have the option of blurring your background, if that makes it more comfortable. We will present ourselves and tell you what this course is all about. This course is oversubscribed so not showing up, means you are not interested.
Hello all and welcome to AST3310 for spring '22.
This year the lectures will all happen in english. This is due to the student composition this year. Since all the course material is in english, I suspect this will not cause problems for any of you.
