Course content
Important topics in plasma astrophysics and cosmic physics.
Learning outcome
The course gives a theoretical background to master and Ph.D. theses in plasma astrophysics.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Bachelor degree of the MNB-FAM programme or comparable.
Recommended previous knowledge
Bachelor degree of the MNB-FAM programme, specially AST3130 – Gas dynamics (discontinued). FYS4620 – An Introduction to Plasma Physics may also be useful.
Overlapping courses
10 credits AST309.
Teaching
2 hours of lectures/tutorials each week.
Examination
A final oral examination. Compulsory home exercises may be given. Letter grades.
Evaluation
The course is subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students to participate in a more comprehensive evaluation.
Other
The course is given if 3 or more students sign up.
