PKP348 – Pharmaceutical control of Drug Abuse
Course content
The course includes knowledge connected to drugs of abuse and phsycoactive prescribed drugs which are misused. The lessons will focus on the Narcotic Law, Road Traffic Law and guidelines connected to doping control of athletes. Biological effects and the metabolism of relevant illegal drugs and prescribed phsycoactive drugs selection of relevant biological materials to be used for drugs of abuse testing, different analytical methods and interpretation of the analytical results, are discussed. The lessons will also include different guidelines recommended for drug analysis requested by the police, for workplace testing, child welfare cases, doping control of athletes etc.
Learning outcome
To give extensive knowledge of problems connected to control of drugs of abuse and further to give the candidates background for information work, preventive work, control of drug misuse and treatment of drug addicts.
