I'm continuing to learn how to use quizzes and Google forms...

In Lecture 14 the quiz gives you a score and a short explanation of the right answer. Go ahead and try to figure out if you understood the lecture: do the quiz and get feedback!

Thank you to the author for sharing this report with his fellow students! I do not agree with all the comments and conclusions, but the author argues well for his conclusions. That's what I want from your reports! The report is well written, well argued and well structured!

I have also added links to some comments about Oblig 1 to the home page of this year.

Hi

Everyone has to sign up for lab in week 42/43

Disregard the lab date given in Studentweb / minestudier!

Sign up on the Canvas pages of FYS2160. Go to the tab "Personer" and there you choose the tab "Andre lab (uke 42 og 43)". Then you choose to join one of the sessions that are not full. Your choice will not appear in minestudier. Continue to disregard minestudier for this lab.

Monday 12.10. during the lecture period 14:15-16 I will be available on zoom https://uio.zoom.us/j/2351841639 to answer questions about the lab and the oblig 2.

Lecture webpage (prerecorded) This time I'm trying the use of Nettskjema to have some statistics on how you do on the quizzes. You only have one try. I will open the ordinary webpage on Wednesday.

Zoom link for asking questions and discussing with Dag 14:15-16

Dear students of Fys2160

I miss seeing you at lectures and I miss your input and questions.

On the other hand, prerecording lectures has other advantages.

In order to allow both prerecorded lectures and interaction I will open my zoom room during the lecture hours. Mon and Wed 14:15-16:00 I will be at my computer answering questions on the padlet, on email and on zoom.

Cheers,

Dag Kristian

Bernie Alder would have turned 95 this week. Here's a paper on his contributions to molecular simulations.

For some reason there was a link to last year's Oblig 1 on Canvas. I have now deleted this erroneous link. Oblig 1 will be published on September 9.

  • As mentioned already: Sign up in Canvas, disregard lab groups in minestudier
  • On the lab day: bring your laptop with Lammps, Ovito and Matlab or Python
  • Read the infection prevention guidelines beforehand
  • Read the texts for the experiments and the MD simulations beforehand.

Hi

Everyone has to sign up for lab in week 36/37! 30 students have still not done so. They need to do this immediately.

Disregard the lab date given in Studentweb / minestudier!

Sign up on the Canvas pages of FYS2160. Go to the tab "Personer" and there you choose the tab "F?rste lab (uke 36 og 37)". Then you choose to join one of the sessions that are not full. Your choice will not appear in minestudier. Continue to disregard minestudier for this lab.

Due to double booking of my time I cannot lecture on zoom today. Todays lecture has now been published on:

The webpages suggest that there are workshops (regneverksted) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This semester we will only have exercise workshops (regneverksted) on Thursdays. If this poses a serious problem to many students we may reconsider. Post a comment on the corresponding post on the padlet to be heard.

Group sessions will run as scheduled

Dear al

I am very sorry that I forgot to announce properly where to findlecture 2. Today's lecture will only be notes, recorded video and some Matlab scripts, 1, 2, 3.

Publisert 17. aug. 2020 15:51

In canvas under "Persons" you should find a tab "F?rste lab (uke 36 og 37)". Please sign up as soon as possible!

In the same form there are some errors: It says 02.10 and 09.10 instead of  02.09. and 09.09. All labs are in September on the dates 2.-4., 9.-11. September.
