Midterm exam clarifications (continually updated)

Language: Although the problem text is in English, you may answer the exam in either Norwegian Bokm?l, Norwegian Nynorsk or English.

Problem 1:

-"measurement of the spin-x component" means "measurement of the x-component of the spin-1/2 degree of freedom".

-An ideal measurement is a measurement which only minimally disturbs the system. This does not mean that the spin state is not altered. In this problem it simply is a qualifier which lets you use postulate 6 presented in the lectures or what Griffiths calls the "Generalized statistical interpretation".
