Weekly plans and update for week 37
Hi everybody, here follows (somewhat late) our weekly summary from last week and updates for this week.
Last week we discussed in more detail c++ technicalities like dynamic memory allocation and handling of matrices and vectors as well as discussing LU decomposition in more detail. This material os covered by the lecture notes chapter 6, in particular chapter 6.4, see https://github.com/CompPhysics/ComputationalPhysics/blob/master/doc/Lectures/lectures2015.pdf and the slides at http://compphysics.github.io/ComputationalPhysics/doc/pub/linalg/html/._linalg-bs000.html
We started also a discussion of iterative methods (chapter 6.6 of the lecture notes) and we will finalize that on Thursday and before we venture into project 2 (which is available at for example http://compphysics.github.io/ComputationalPhysics/doc/Projects/2020/Project2/html/Project2-bs.html), we will also discuss how to interpolate with spline methods, see chapter 6.5 of the lecture notes. The second lecture on Thursday deals with project 2.
Friday we start discussing eigenvalue problems and the basic mathematics of project 2 using Jacobi's method for finding eigenvalues, see chapters 7.1-7.3 of the above lecture notes and the slides on eigenvalue problems http://compphysics.github.io/ComputationalPhysics/doc/pub/eigvalues/html/._eigvalues-bs000.html.
