Problems for group session 26.04
I have prepared myself with the following problems from Martin&Shaw chapters, 9, 10, 11:
9.5
9.6 - I looked up the branching ratios you need: B(D0->K+pi-) = (1.385+-0.027)x10^-4 and B(D0->K-pi+) = (3.89+-0.04)%
10.8 - Here it is useful to remember that the unit of cross-section is 1 barn = 10^-24 cm^2. For comparison the design luminosity of the LHC is 10^34/(cm^2 s). See table 10.0 for the Higgs branching ratios and I looked up B(Z->bbar)=15% for you.
10.10 - See figure 10.17 on page 294 for inspiration
11.1
11.4
11.6 - Here you can assume that on the average the B+ and B- share the momentum of the Upsilon(4S) equally.
Sorry this all comes a bit late for you to prepare... See you tomorrow!
