Plan for Promax lab week 19: Groups 1-5 work every day from 9am - 1pm, and groups 6-10 work every day from 1pm - 5pm (data lab 2nd floor). On site assistance every day from 10am-11am and 1pm-2pm. Each group submit report to gelius@geo.uio.no with deadline May 16
Thursday May 3: remaining exercises will be reviewed. In addition, an introduction to ProMAX will be given (mandatory).
During the mandatory Promax lab in week 19, you will work in groups. Due to limited number of licenses we need to split into a morning schedule (9am-1pm every day) and an afternoon schedule (1pm-5pm). If you have a strong reason for prefering one of these schedules send me an email (gelius@geo.uio.no).
Thursday April 26: review of Exam 2011.
Matlab-reports should be sent electronically to gelius@geo.uio.no (deadline April 15).
Information regarding Matlab exercise 4: in section 3. the truncated inverse filter h has the following form in the Z-domain: H(Z)= 1/6 - (5/36)Z + (19/216)Z*Z.
Submission deadline for mandatory Matlab report is April 15. It is possible to work in groups (no more than 3 students per group).
Exercises will be reviewed at the following Thurdays (within regular teaching hours): 1. Exercise set 1-3 March 8, 2. Exercise set 4-6 March 22, 3. Exercise set 7-9 March 29, and 4. Exercise set 10-11 April 19.
First lecture Monday January 23
At the first lecture you will be given information about how to use the e-learning system GeoCLASS. You will also be given a licence code in order to be able to access the system.
After having registered as a user of GeoCLASS goto webpage www.unigeo.no and log in (using same username and password). Then click on the GeoCLASS button at the top and then choose forum on the list to the left. Course material is placed in a GEO4280 course folder. In this folder you will find course schedule and a set of problems including MATLAB exercises.
Textbook: Petroleum Geophysics (published by UniGEO) available at Akademika. It covers the syllabus of both GEO4280 and GEO4260.
Mandatory seismic processing lab week 19 (reserve all days)
SYLLABUS: Elastic Waves (p. 51 and Chapters 5-7 in textbook), Seismic Acquisition (all chapters in textbook), Basic Seismic Signal Theory and Processing (all chapters in textbook) and Seismic Imaging (all chapters but no sublevels).
