IN2070 – Digital Image Processing
Course description
Course content
The course deals with digital images and their properties, color models and perception, representation methods for digital images, histogram transformations and 2-dimensional digital convolution and filtering, segmentation as well as image coding and compression.
Learning outcome
After taking this topic, you'll have:
- knowledge of concepts, methods and areas of application for digital image processing.
- experience with how reviewed theory can be used to solve specific problems or tasks.
- a solid background for further studies in image analysis and pattern recognition/machine learning

In addition to fulfilling the?Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:
- Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)

Formal prerequisite knowledge
The course presupposes:?IN1000 – Introduction to Object-oriented Programming/IN1900 – Introduction to Programming with Scientific Applications/MAT-IN1105 – Programming, Modelling and Computations (discontinued) and MAT1100 – Calculus/MAT1050 – Mathematics for Applications 1

Teaching
It will be 2 hours of lectures and 2 horus of exercises per week.

Examination
Final 4 hours long digital exam.
All mandatory assignments must be approved prior to the exam.
It will also be counted as one of?your three?attempts to sit the exam for this course, if you sit the exam for one of the following courses:?IN3370 – Digital image processing and analysis, INF2310 – Digital bildebehandling (continued), INF160
Examination support material
No examination support material is allowed.
Language of examination
You may submit your exam in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F?is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.
Resit an examination
Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are?offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester.
Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass the original examination.
