The klagesensur results have now been published.
Several students got their grade increased by one grade.
One student got his/her grade decreased by one grade.
Three students got their grade increased by two grades.
For two of these, the actual difference was less than two, e.g., D+ to B-.
For the other of the three, I have to confess that both I and the external censor overlooked a very small but very important detail in question 7: A semaphore protecting a critical section was initialized to 2 rather than the usual 1. If it had been one, then the solution deadlocked. However, when initialized with two, the solution worked perfectly. For this oversight, I apologize. Thank goodness, such mistakes are rare—last time, I made such a mistake was in a different century.
One student got a failing grade in the original evaluation due to a trivial error in a spreadsheet: After the censors had agreed on the number of points for all students, the spreadsheet was used to convert points to a grade. For some unknown reason, the points of this one student were zeroed out “his” spreadsheet cell leading him/her to get an F. The klagesensur found that “B” was the appropriate grade—the same as the original censors found except for the conversion mistake. I apologize to the affected student who must have gotten a shock reading the original grade. Sorry.
After the klagesensur, the grade distribution is as follows:
A |
8 |
B |
13 |
C |
12 |
D |
15 |
E |
15 |
F |
6 |
Good luck with the rest of your Masters education.
Sincerely, Eric
