Weekly lecture:
This week we have a guest lecture from Frank Veenstra from the ROBIN research group on biologically inspired AI methods - more specifically, methods inspired by developmental systems and swarms. There are no required readings this week beyond the slides, but some optional readings are suggested below.
Slides
Videos:
Part 3: Cell Chemistry and Rewrite Systems
Part 4: Rewrite Systems and ANN Encodings
Part 5: Swarms, Particle Swarm Optimization
Part 6: Ant Colony Optimization and Reconfigurable Robots
Optional Reading
The book Bio-Inspired Artificial Intelligence gives perhaps the best overview of these topics. Chapter 4 is about developmental systems, and Chapter 7 is on collective (swarm) systems.
