You should all have received your final exam results now.

Update: Results do not seem to be available just yet. Working to fix it.

The lecture video for course week 12 about phylogenetics is now available. Other materials are available on Canvas. The YouTube lectures by the textbook authors are particularly interesting this week (chapter 7), as they start with a look at the SARS virus epidemic 2002-2004. This virus is very closely related to the SARS-CoV-2 virus of the current pandemic.
Correction to partial exam 2: In exercise 1d it is stated that the sequence id's should start with "NP_". However, for the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae R6, the sequence id may start with "WP_".

Due to the ongoing pandemic, UiO has decided to change the way the exams are carried out in the spring semester 2020.
In IN4030, the final exam will be changed (the two first partial exams will be carried out as earlier). Instead of a digital exam in Silurveien, the final exam will also be a written home exam like the two first partial exams. The exam will be published on the 25th of May 2020 and the deadline for submitting the exam answers will be 7 days later. The workload will be about 1-2 days. The grading scale in the course will be only pass/fail, not the usual A-F.
The lecture video for course week 10 on the topic of clustering is now available.
It seems like the authors have made much of the textbook available for free online. Please see the links in Syllabus/achievement requirements. Note that chapter 6, 8, 9 and 10 are not (yet) available.
Partial exam 2 is now available through Canvas. It will be made available on Inspera soon. The answers must be submitted through Inspera. The deadline is Friday 8 May at 17.00.
Please work with the exercises for the previous week as usual. Solutions have been made available on Canvas. Please ask questions on Mattermost.
A recorded video of the lecture for week 9 about genome sequence assembly is now available.
The schedule for the course has been updated. The last lecture that was planned on the topic of gene prediction has been removed from the curriculum.
A Mattermost channel called IN4030 has been created. Please use it for questions, discussions etc about IN4030. All students should have been added.
The topic for course week 9 is genome assembly. You can read about it in chapter 3 in the textbook. You can also watch a series of lectures on this topic on the home page of the book. It is also available as a playlist on YouTube. See also the material on Canvas.
The lecture presentation, questions, exercises and solutions for course week 9 are available on Canvas. The plan is to make a recorded lecture available soon, and to make a channel in Mattermost for discussions and questions.
Due to the new recommendations from UiO to reduce the spread of the Corona virus (SARS-CoV-2), all lectures and group teaching (exercises) in IN4030 will be cancelled on Monday 16 March and onwards until further notice.
Instead, the plan is to make recordings of lectures with sound and slides available online. There might be a slight delay before these are ready. All lecture presentations and other material will be made available on Canvas as usual.
The two partial (home) exams will proceed as planned. How the final exam will be carried out remains to be seen.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the course.
