This week, we'll cover three topics:
- Phonetics and Automatic Speech recognition (ASR)
- Natural Language Understanding (NLU)
- Chatbot models, in particular IR models and sequence-to-sequence models.
Background material: Chapter 27 from Jurafsky & Martin is a good starter for the part on phonetics (although the chapter goes beyond what was covered during the lecture). You can also easily find introductory lectures on ASR online (see e.g. here).
Regarding NLU and chatbot models, Chapter 26 covers most of what was covered during the lecture.
