We have published solutions to the exam together with grading guidelines.
The final group session for IN 4080 will take place this Thursday (November 25) in Sed as usual. The session will focus in particular on solving the fairness question from last year's exam.
If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us ! At this stage, we do not plan to have any further group session or lecture until the exam, but if you are struggling to understand some parts of the course and would like us to schedule a short session to go through some of your questions/problems, we can certainly organise that. Just let us know :-)
Hi
I have made a new yaml-file, called environment_v2.yml. You may use it to make a new environment (or extend the previous environment). I have tested it on Windows10 and it seems to work. It includes the packages needed for Mandatory 3 (together with earlier packages).
Enjoy, Jan Tore
The third (and final) assignment is now out! Submission deadline is November 12. Let us know if you encounter any problems.
The detailed syllabus is listed on each week's page. In addition, I have collected all the mandatory readings so far on the syllabus-readings page. I have also include all of section 6.8 in J&M chapter 6 as mandatory and included it in the week 8 page mandatory readings.
Jan Tore
I have updated the mandatory readings on weekly page 6 with sections 18.0-18.4 from ch. 18 "Word Senses and WordNet" in the J&M book.
Next time you visit the web page for the Jurafsky and Martin book (3 ed.), you will see they updated the draft September 21. There are no major changes to the parts of the book we have have considered so far. For these parts, it does not matter whether you use the Dec. 2020 or the Sept. 2021 version.
The largest changes we have observed:
- Added a new section 3.3 "Sampling sentences from a language model". It explains better the n-gram generated sentences from Shakespeare we considered in lecture 06. This new section should be read.
- If you had problems understanding the n-fold cross-validation in section 4.8, the explanation is now expanded.
- Typos are corrected throughout. This includes some of the technical parts of ch.5 and ch.6. In particular, for sec. 4.8 Word2vec, you are recommended to use the 2021 edition.
The group sessions are physical and not recorded. Because of the corona situation, we will in addition give a zoom offering in the form of one-on-one help. Sign up in Mattermost or send an e-mail to Gudmundur, and he will make contact in this time slot.
This week the lecture and lab session will swap. The group session will be Monday 10.15 and the lecture will be Thursday at 12.15. See the weekly page.
You find it here. Deadline Friday 24 Sept.
We have published advised on programming environment and how to install it on your own machine here.
Welcome to a new semester!
For those of you who did not reach the first lecture, please reply to the questionnaire. You find the address at the last slide of the first presentation.
If the infection rate reaches a level where parts of society are forced to close down again during the autumn semester, written examination in this course may be conducted as a written home exam or as an oral examination.
