Welcome
Hi everyone, and welcome to this course in health data and decision-making! We are very much looking forward to meeting you all and discussing health data with you this spring.
The first lecture is Monday, January 23. Until then, here is a bit of information:
Lectures
Lectures are on Mondays 10.15-12.00. There is, however, one exception: the group session on Tuesday 31. January will be used for a lecture on data, models, and visualization. There will not be a lecture on Feb. 6.
Please check out the list of lectures on the course pages for more information.
Syllabus
The final syllabus is published on the course pages. If a paper/book is not available through the syllabus page in Leganto, we will share the pdf during class.
Obligatory assignments
There are two group-based obligatory assignments in the course. The first of these also include an individual part, which consists of taking two self-study courses on the DHIS2 platform:
Introduction to DHIS2
https://academy.dhis2.org/courses/course-v1:hisp+GEN-D001-en+2022Q1/about
Expected workload: 3 hours
Aggregate Data Analysis Fundamentals
https://academy.dhis2.org/courses/course-v1:hisp+GEN-D003-en+2022Q1/about
Expected workload: 6 hours
The point is not to become DHIS2 experts, but to get some hands-on experience with working on data. As a group assignment, you will be asked to create a dashboard and provide reflections around it. The assignment will be presented orally.
In the second assignment, you will be asked to design a data-based solution, reflect on the design using the syllabus, and create a presentation on it.
Group sessions
The group sessions will be used for three activities: (1) Discuss the syllabus and the content of the lectures. (2) Work individually and in groups on the assignments. (3) Present group assignments.
